The steps
- Compare premiums for your region, franchise and model.
- Apply for the new insurer's basic insurance and wait for acceptance.
- Cancel the old insurance by registered letter so it arrives before the deadline.

Deadlines
The notice usually must reach the insurer by 30 November. Check any special deadlines in the contract and after premium announcements.
Supplementary cover
