The AHV 21 reform harmonises the reference age for women and men at 65 and makes the start of the pension more flexible.
Higher reference age for women
The reference age for women rises in steps of three months per birth year until it reaches 65. Women born in 1964 or later have the same age as men. Our retirement date calculator shows your exact date.

Flexible retirement
- You can draw the pension between 63 and 70.
- Drawing early reduces the pension for life; deferring raises it.
- You can draw only part of the pension while you keep working, and increase the share later.
The transition generation
Women in the transition birth years receive reduced cuts or supplements when they retire early, depending on their average income. Check the exact rates with your compensation office, and compare the effect with your pension fund rules, which may follow different ages.
