Health insurance and taxes
- You must have basic health insurance. Compare premiums and consider a higher franchise if you are healthy and have a reserve.
- Expect a tax bill. Set aside part of each salary until you know your amount.
Build a buffer
Aim first for one month of expenses, then three to six. Keep it in a separate account.
Start saving for the long term
Open a pillar 3a account and pay in what you can. Even CHF 200 a month adds up through compounding and tax savings. Later, invest in low-cost funds.
Avoid early traps
- Do not finance lifestyle with credit cards or leasing.
- Be careful with subscriptions and instalment plans.
- Keep an overview with a simple budget.
