Alternatives
- Public transport: a half-fare card or GA travelcard may pay off for frequent travellers.
- Car sharing: pay per use for occasional trips.
- Bikes and e-bikes: low cost for commuting under 15 km.
- Rentals and taxis: useful for rare trips.
Buy or lease?
Leasing lowers the monthly payment but you never own the car, and you may pay for extra kilometres. Buying used with cash is usually cheapest over time. For electric cars, check charging options where you live.
Decide with numbers
Estimate your yearly kilometres and travel patterns, then compare. Use the car cost calculator and the GA vs. half-fare calculator.
